Memorial Biography

[EPITOME] Beatrix Genevieve-Mireille Leighton was a beloved sister, daughter, and friend. Beatrix led an eventful life, and one that was full of trauma and difficulty, yet she managed to always stay on top and dodge every obstacle life threw at her.

[ACCOMPLISHMENTS] Bea had a host of accomplishments in her life, including serving as the team captain for the Riptide Swimmers Club Assc., where she helped coach troubled youths to keep them off the streets and provide them with a sport, team, and home. She was well known for saying, "The ache for home lives in all of us. The safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned," a quote coined initially in Maya Angelou's "All God's Children Need Traveling Shoes." This quote could not have possibly hit closer to home with anybody else than it did with Bea. She was loved and adored by everybody she touched. The esteemed Claire Estate has graciously sponsored an expanse of Canadian wilderness to be dedicated to the graves of orphaned children, under a plaque that parrots Bea's coveted saying.

[CHILDHOOD] Beatrix was raised by a third party due to a mix-up at birth, both of whom are no longer with us. Following this tumultuous upbringing, Bea moved in with family friends and eventually the adoptive Claire family, where she soon found love and happiness. Upon her passing, Ferdinand Dmitrievich Leighton (1973-) was identified as her biological father. Ferdinand will continue to to raise Lucille, sibling of Beatrix.
